Extended Warranty Information
Extended Warranty Policy
The Shopbroadline TV extended warranty acts as an extension of your original manufacturer's warranty coverage with one exception:
AS OF JAN 1ST 2011, ALL EXTENDED WARRANTIES WILL BE SERVICED AND UNDERWRITTEN BY MACKCAM.COM. GO TO THEIR WEBSITE TO SEE MORE DETAILS REGARDING EXTENDED WARRANTIES. SHOPBROADLINE IS AN AUTHORIZED RESELLER OF MACK WARRANTIES.
- Local Service Centers - The Shopbroadline warranty uses the same local contracted authorized service centers that your manufacturer uses. If you would like to know who the local service center is, call the manufacturer 1-800 technical service number and ask who the service center is in your area. We do not release the names and numbers of companies in our service network until need of service arises.
- In Home Service for TVs over $500 if your original manufacturers warranty provides for in-home service. We will pick the TV up or repair it on site. In the event the TV has to be shipped/transported to a service center, the shipping/transportation expense will be reimbursed. For TVs under $500, our coverage is identical to the original manufacturers warranty.
- No Deductible, Parts and Labor Coverage. There is no payment due to the service center.
- No Depreciated Value Buyout Clause. Almost all TV extended warranties contain one of these. Not the Shopbroadline TV warranty. We pay more for our warranty coverage to exclude this type of abuse and bring value to our customers. Read more about what a buyout clause is here.
- Repair or Replacement. The Shopbroadline warranty covers repair or replace service. Our administrator may offer a cash settlement of the full replacement value of a like product.
- Pixel Defect Policy. We cover defects caused by dead or dying pixels. Our pixel defect policy is the same as the original manufacturer's warranty coverage.
- No Refurbished TVs. They are not eligible for coverage.
- Fully insured by AM Best A rated Insurer. Our Shopbroadline warranties are insured by an A rated insurance company such as Dealers Assurance Company.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the service center in my area that repairs the TV if I need service?
We have over 2200 contracted service centers nationwide. We contract with the same authorized service centers around the country that the manufacturers use. The list changes frequently as manufacturers outsource and authorize different service centers from time to time. If you would like to know the exact service centers in your area, please call the manufacturers 1-800 technical service number listed in your TV manual and ask for the closest authorized service center information. A manufacturer authorized service center in your area will handle the repairs under the television extended warranty.
When does the TV extended warranty begin?
The television extended warranty period begins on the date of purchase of the TV. The television extended warranty service period begins on the day the manufacturers warranty ends. On most televisions this is after 1 year, but on others it may be 90 days or even 2 years. If you purchase a 5 year extended TV warranty for a TV with a 1 year manufacturers warranty, the 1st year of the extended warranty runs concurrent with the manufacturers warranty. And your service period under the extended warranty is then the final 4 years. During the 1st year the extended warranty does cover defects resulting from electrical surge which the manufacturers warranties do not cover.
What does the "In-Home" service include?
The authorized service center will come and either repair the TV on site or take it to the service center for repair if needed. These service centers have the ability to obtain the necessary parts to repair your TV. Once repaired, the service center will return the TV after it has been repaired. LCD TVs under 32" in size need to be taken in to the local service center for repair.
How do I place an order for the television extended warranty?
Our online ordering process is extremely easy. In order to keep costs down, we do not accept extended warranty orders via telephone. You will need the following information when placing an order:
1) The manufacturer and model number of the TV
2) The actual price paid for the TV (no tax or shipping included).
3) The actual date of purchase of the TV (not the recieve date).
You will recieve your warranty contract via e-mail within two business days. We recommend printing off a copy of the warranty contract and stapling your original sales receipt to the warranty contract. You will need your original sales receipt in the event you need service on the TV. You might also want to print out a copy of the Terms and Conditions of the warranty contract located here. We do not take the serial number information because your TV could be replaced by the manufacturer during the manfucaturers warranty period.
What do I need to do after placing the order for the TV extended warranty?
ShopBroadline will handle all the paperwork and registration for your extended warranty. There is nothing required of you after placing your order. We will register your warranty with the appropriate extended warranty administrator. All you will need is your warranty contract sales receipt to access your TV extended warranty with the administrator. The warranty contract sales receipt will be e-mailed to you within two business days of receipt of the order (as long as the credit card charge goes through and all needed information is supplied).
How long have you been in business?
ShopBroadline has been in business selling TV extended warranties since 2005 and has an excellent rating with the Better Business Bureau.
What TVs are not eligible for extended warranty service?
Refurbished TVs and Gray market TVs (TVs not intended for use in the United States and Canada) are not eligible for the extended warranty coverage. Also, TVs past 7 months from the date of purchase are not eligible for coverage.
If my television breaks how do I get it repaired during the television extended warranty period?
Simply call the 1-800 phone number printed on your warranty contract sales receipt. You may access your warranty by your name, phone number, address, and in most cases, the sales receipt number as well. You will need to keep your original sales receipt for the TV purchase as well. A service technician will come to your home or place of business to determine the problem with the TV and from there the TV will either be repaired or replaced.
How long after my original purchase date can I purchase the TV extended warranty?
We allow purchase of a television extended warranty to be made within 7 months after the original purchase date of the TV. If your TV is over 7 months old, it is not eligible for coverage under the TV extended warranty.
Does the extended service plan cover anything in the first year that the manufacturer's warranty does not?
Yes, our extended service plans cover defect from power surges, either by lightning or otherwise, during the first year. Many TV manufacturer's warranties do not cover this. A surge protector must be used for this coverage to apply.
Is there a difference between the terms, "TV extended warranty" and "TV extended service plan"?
No, the terms are used interchangeably. Under federal law, this plan is deemed a service contract. When we use the terminology, TV extended warranty, we are referring to our TV extended service plan. We use the term "extended warranty" more commonly due to the fact that it is better understood and more commonly used to describle our service.
